Our Broken Bridge

Not many people know, but on 27 January 1809, our famous old bridge was broken by dramatic floods. For the first time in hundreds of years, Wallingford was cut off from it's neighbour, Crowmarsh Gifford.  A temporary bridge was built, until the old one was fully repaired in 1812.

Not many people know that the "bridge" between man and God was broken by sin, thousands of years ago. The Bible says  "But your iniquities have separated  you from your God, and your sins have hidden His face from you, that he will not hear" (Isaiah 59:2 ). God has made it possible for us to have a renewed relationship with God, by providing a mediator or saviour.  "For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus" 1Ti mothy 2:5. Sin stands between us and God, but Jesus Christ is the bridge by which we can reach Him. To become a Christian, and be restored to God, simply "cross the bridge" by turning away from your sin (repentance) and placing your complete faith in Jesus.
